Tripoli – Stephanie Koury, Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Political Affairs, on Friday discussed the latest political and security developments in the country with the Russian Ambassador to Libya, Aydar Aganin.
The UN mission stated in a release that the meeting also covered the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to advance the political process, based on the roadmap presented by Special Representative Hanna Tetteh to the UN Security Council last August.
The meeting emphasized the pivotal role of the Berlin Process in fostering international cooperation to support the implementation of the roadmap, according to the statement.
It is noteworthy that on August 21, the Special Envoy to Libya, Hanna Tetteh, presented a roadmap to the Security Council aimed at leading Libya out of its current crisis. The plan is based on three main pillars: preparing an integrated and viable electoral framework, forming a unified government that brings together institutions from the East and West, and creating a suitable atmosphere for elections through a comprehensive dialogue mechanism that addresses contentious security, economic, and electoral issues.
