Lafi: We are laying down legal frameworks for reconciliation project

Vice President of the Libyan Presidential Council (PC), Abdulla al-Lafi, affirmed the continuation of work on developing legal frameworks, to reach a draft law that guarantees the success of the national reconciliation project, which achieves transitional justice.

This came during his meeting with the committee commissioned by the PC to set the legal frameworks for the reconciliation project, held Sunday, in the presence of former MP Muhammad Shuaib, and specialists in the legal field, and with the participation of legal professors via video technology.

PC Media Office said that a committee to develop legal frameworks headed by al-Lafi reviewed, during the meeting held at PC’s office in Tripoli, the general form of the draft national reconciliation law.

The attendees stressed the need to focus on the media discourse that urges national reconciliation and rejects hate speech, given its importance in enlightening public opinion about the role of reconciliation.

The attendees also stressed the need to continue holding meetings to formulate laws that contribute to the success of national reconciliation, in preparation for referring them to Parliament for adoption.
