LBBC business delegation to visit Tripoli, Zliten and Misrata from 19 to 23 February

LBBC business delegation to visit Tripoli, Zliten and Misrata from 19 to 23 February

A delegation of the Libyan British Business Council (LBBC) will visit Tripoli, Zliten and Misrata from 19-23 February 2024 as guests of the Libyan General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, according to a report by the Libya Herald.

Peter Millett, Chairman of the LBBC and former British Ambassador to Libya, will lead the delegation which also has the support of the British Embassy and the Department for Business and Trade. During the visit the delegation will meet the National Oil Corporation (NOC), the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), the Misrata Free Zone (MFZ), Chambers of Commerce, the Libyan Businessmen Council (LBC) and other leading organisations and private companies in the three centres.

On Wednesday, 21st February, the LBBC and BACB will welcome Saddek Elkaber, Governor of the CBL, as keynote speaker at a Conference on Banking, Finance and Infrastructure to be held at the Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli.

Elkaber’s speech will be followed by a panel discussion on ‘Bridging the divide between Libya and the international financial market’. The panel will be chaired by Salim Abukhzaam (BACB) and will include Ali Mahmoud, Chairman of the Libyan Investment Authority (LIA), the Libyan Foreign Bank (LFB) and Ghassan Attiga (Bank ABC). Delegates will have the opportunity to pose questions from the floor.

After a coffee break at 11.30, the conference will reconvene at 12.00 noon to discuss developments in the infrastructure sector. The panel will include Tahar Tayab, Vice Chairman of the Housing & Infrastructure Board (HIB), Abdelsalam Alansari, Chairman of the Renewable Energy Authority of Libya (REAoL), and Mohamed Tumi, Founding Partner of Tumi Law Firm. The conference will conclude at 13.00 pm.
