Eng. Belqasim Khalifa Haftar, Director-General of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, received a high-level Italian delegation led by the head of the Italian Intelligence Agency and accompanied by the chairman of GKSD S.R.L.
The meeting was attended by senior Libyan health officials, including directors of Benghazi’s major medical centers such as Al-Hawari, Al-Jalaa, Benghazi Medical Center, and the Benghazi Oncology Center, alongside representatives from the National Development Authority and the Fund’s project management.
Discussions focused on strategic cooperation between Libya and Italy in key sectors, including healthcare, medical training, infrastructure, clean energy, and waste-to-energy conversion management. These talks aimed to foster practical partnerships that support sustainable development in Libya.
The high-level talks were preceded by a series of field visits and technical meetings where the Italian delegation inspected hospitals and health projects in Benghazi and Al-Marj to assess their progress and actual needs.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed in the fields of health, infrastructure, clean energy, and the environment. The agreements mark a new beginning for strategic cooperation between the two countries and open broad horizons for sustainable developmental partnerships.
