Libya, Italy hold talks on strengthening industrial cooperation

Ahmed Abu Heisa, Libya’s Minister of Industry and Minerals, and Italian Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini, discussed on Sunday “the importance of strengthening economic cooperation between Italy and Libya and allowing the return of Italian companies to the North African country,” according to a statement by the Libyan Ministry of Industry.

During the discussion, the resumption of activities in the truck and bus factory in Tajoura was discussed, highlighting the Libyan efforts to allow Iveco, a key partner in production, to overcome obstacles and difficulties.

The Italian ambassador, accompanied by the head of the Economic and Commercial Office Giacomo Grandesso, underlined the vast potential of collaboration in the industrial field, with a clear commitment on the part of Italy to support the return of economic activity in Libya as a key contribution for stability.

At the end of the meeting, Abu Heisa reiterated the need to initiate genuine business partnerships, providing the opportunity for investors and producers to interact, collaborate effectively and achieve results that serve the common interests of both countries.
