Benghazi — In a move to strengthen cooperation and coordination between Libya and Turkey, Lt. Gen. Saddam Haftar, Deputy Commander of the Libyan Armed Forces, received a high-level Turkish delegation led by Ali Onaner, the Turkish Foreign Ministry’s Director General for North and East African Affairs.

The delegation, which included the Turkish Ambassador to Libya, Guven Begec, was welcomed by Haftar, who praised the current state of bilateral relations. During the meeting, Haftar emphasized the importance of broadening the scope of joint cooperation to serve mutual interests and enhance partnerships across various sectors.

For his part, Onaner expressed his satisfaction with the visit to the General Command headquarters. He commended the notable progress in reconstruction and infrastructure projects across several Libyan cities, particularly Benghazi, and highlighted the ongoing contributions of specialized Turkish urban development companies to these efforts.

The Turkish envoy reaffirmed Ankara’s commitment to consolidating ties with Libya and expanding joint cooperation. He also expressed appreciation for the Libyan General Command’s efforts to maintain stability, noting its positive impact on broader regional security in the Mediterranean.
