Libyan House of Representatives Congratulates Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar on His Appointment as Deputy General Commander

Libyan House of Representatives Congratulates Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar on His Appointment as Deputy General Commander

Statements of congratulations from members of the Libyan House of Representatives in various regions – eastern, western, and southern – were issued to First Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, following his appointment as Deputy General Commander of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces by a decision of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.

33 Members from the Eastern Region

Thirty-three members from the eastern region issued a statement in which they blessed the decision of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, praising the leadership competence and military experience of First Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, and affirming that his selection reflects a strategic vision aimed at enhancing the country’s security and stability.

12 Members from the Western Region

Prior to that, twelve members from the western region issued a statement offering their congratulations and calling on First Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar to move forward towards building a unified army capable of protecting Libya and preserving its future and stability.

28 Members from the Southern Region

Twenty-eight members from the southern region also joined the congratulators, affirming their full support for the decision to appoint First Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, and considering it an important step towards unifying the military institution and developing its capabilities.

Position of the Parliament Presidency and the Government

For his part, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Counselor Aguila Saleh, described the decision as “wise” and reflecting confidence in the competence of First Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, stressing the role of the military institution in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and unity.
The appointed Prime Minister, Osama Hammad, also praised the decision, considering it in line with the vision for developing the armed forces until 2030, and forming a strong boost to the reform path within the military institution.
