Libyan Officials Discuss Sirte Free Zone Development and Security Cooperation

During a visit to Sirte, Major General Saddam Haftar, Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces of the Libyan National Army, held discussions with a U.S. military delegation on security cooperation and regional stability. The talks focused on strengthening coordination between Libya and the United States in addressing security challenges.

As part of the visit, Dr. Mahmoud Elforjani, Chairman of the Board and Director General of the Sirte Free Zone, provided an in-depth briefing on the port’s development plans. Using a 3D model, he outlined key infrastructure upgrades and long-term strategies to enhance Libya’s economic position and attract investment in the Mediterranean region. Major General Haftar accompanied the delegation during the presentation, highlighting the strategic importance of the project in supporting national economic growth and stability.
