Libya’s Prime Minister, appointed by the House of Representatives, Osama Hamad visited the flood-ravaged city of Derna on Wednesday to inspect rebuilding efforts, accompanied by a delegation from the Libyan National Army (LNA).
The trip came at the direction of LNA commander Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar. Interior Deputy Minister Faraj Aqeim, the commander of the LNA’s 166th Infantry Brigade, and engineer Belgasim Khalifa also joined the tour.
Prime Minister Hamad and officials examined the latest developments in reconstruction projects across Derna which was devastated by flash flooding last month.
They surveyed ongoing work to clear rubble and damaged buildings, reopen roads, and restore infrastructure.
Hamad stressed the need to complete projects quickly while maintaining quality.
