Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), Saddiq Elkabeer, attended on Friday the 43th council meeting of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) in Saudi Arabia, according to a statement by CBL today.
The meeting, held in the Saudi city of Jeddah, saw the attendance of banking representatives from about 58 countries. During the meeting, they discussed “developments in the Islamic finance sector, and its role in supporting sustainable economic growth and financial inclusion,” as per CBL’s statement.
Established in 2003, the IFSB works to promote and enhance the stability of the Islamic financial services industry by issuing global prudential standards and guiding principles for the industry, broadly defined to include banking, capital markets and insurance sectors.
