Benghazi, Libya — Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Armed Forces, participated in the celebration of the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Libyan Army, alongside senior military leaders.

The ceremony commemorates the establishment of the army and reaffirms the commitment to continue building the armed forces as the nation’s protective shield. The Libyan Army remains steadfast in its core values of loyalty to God, then country, defending the will of the people, and upholding sovereignty. Its history is marked by significant sacrifices in combating terrorism and extremism.

During the event, Field Marshal Haftar emphasized the importance of discipline, ongoing training, and development to ensure the armed forces’ full readiness and strengthen their capacity to safeguard Libya against all threats.

He also announced the launch of the Vision 2030 plan to modernize the military, aiming to build a capable, advanced army prepared to face regional and international challenges while maintaining security and stability across Libya. Haftar described the army as Libya’s “safety valve” and a cornerstone of national unity.
