Tripoli– The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) has announced the continued and consistent progress of civil construction works for the Tripoli West Steam Power Plant project. This crucial development aims to meet Libya’s growing demand for electrical energy, with a total projected capacity of 1400 MW.
In an official statement released on its Facebook page, the state-owned company described the project as a significant addition to the national electrical grid. It is expected to enhance the grid’s capacity and improve the reliability of the power supply for citizens across the country.
Furthermore, GECOL revealed that new measures were implemented last month to expedite work on the 400 kV Tripoli West – Al-Taba transmission line project. The company confirmed that necessary materials and insulators have been dispatched from its warehouses to support and accelerate the fieldwork.
This transmission line, connecting the Tripoli West, Al-Taba, and Bir al-Osta Milad power stations, is considered a fundamental project for transferring energy from generation plants to the public grid. It is anticipated to significantly boost the efficiency and stability of the electrical network, leading to a tangible improvement in the quality of service for consumers.
