Libya’s outgoing prime minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh was hosted by militia leader Bashir Khalafallah during the breaking of Ramadan’s fast (known as Iftar) on Wednesday.
The gathering, which included a number of other militants, was held in the headquarters of Khalafallah’s militia in Tajoura, a town in north-western Libya.
Dbeibeh has been mobilizing support from various militias against his parliament-designated rival Fathi Bashagha, who also enjoys the backing of multiple armed groups in western Libya.
Khalafallah’s militia has been accused of numerous crimes including an attack against Tripoli’s Mitiga Airport during the violent intra-militia clashes of August 2018.
