Tripoli – The Minister of Education, Mohamed Al-Qariou, on Thursday issued Decision No. 1040 of 2026 to regulate the appointment of Education Supervisors in municipalities. The decision outlines the criteria for candidacy, selection process, and evaluation in an effort to boost efficiency and transparency in hiring.
According to the decision, the appointment term will be three years, extendable for an additional two years based on performance evaluation. Candidates must be current employees in the sector, hold a degree in education, be at least 35 years old, and have a minimum of four years of experience in education or administration. They must also pass a qualifying exam.
A permanent committee, chaired by the Deputy Minister for Supervision Affairs, will screen applications and conduct the selection process. The evaluation will consider educational qualifications, experience, competence, leadership abilities, and the candidate’s vision and development plan.
The decision also requires the committee to establish clear mechanisms for announcing vacancies, applying, and conducting evaluations. The Office of Monitoring and Performance Evaluation will prepare regular reports on supervisors’ performance. The decision takes effect immediately and cancels any previous measures that contradict it.
