Al Jabal al Akhdar – The head of the National Safety Authority’s Al Jabal al Akhdar branch, Suleiman Mheimid, announced that 107 fires were recorded across the branch’s areas during June. He said firefighting teams managed to respond to and control all incidents as part of ongoing efforts to protect lives, property, and vegetation.
Mheimid told the Libyan News Agency that the Derna division saw the highest number of fires, with 28 cases. The Quba division followed with 25, Al-Bayda with 20, Shahat with 16, and Tobruk with 14. The divisions of Ras al-Hilal and Umm al-Razzam each recorded four fires.
He explained that the sharp rise in fires was linked to high temperatures and dry vegetation, which speed up the ignition and spread of flames. He urged residents to follow safety guidelines and avoid practices that could cause fires, especially in agricultural areas and forests.
Mheimid praised the efforts of firefighters and on-duty teams in the Al Jabal al Akhdar branch. He highlighted their quick response to alerts and high professionalism in the field despite challenging conditions, which has helped protect citizens and their property while minimizing losses.
