A news report by the Moroccan newspaper “Yabiladi” stated that the Moroccan consulate in Libya has urged Libyan authorities to extend the period for its nationals to regularize their educational status, in a letter sent to the Dbeibeh government, as followed by “Almarsad” newspaper.
The report clarified that the consulate pointed to challenges facing the Moroccan community after years without official consular representation, while notifying the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rabat of the concerns raised by Moroccan residents regarding their children’s enrollment and continued schooling.
The Moroccan move comes in response to a decision by the Dbeibeh government’s Ministry of Education stipulating that foreign students will not be enrolled for the 2025–2026 academic year unless they hold a valid residence permit for at least one year, granting a three-month grace period for those without valid permits to apply, according to “Yabiladi”.
