Murzuq – The Murzuq Scouts and Guides Commission held awareness sessions on disasters and their consequences, as well as peer support. The sessions were part of a psychological support camp organized by the commission and targeted the local guides. Scout leader Abdelmonem Abdelqader Meftah led the sessions.
These lessons aimed to boost participants’ preparedness and strengthen their knowledge and humanitarian skills. Organizers hope this will help them respond responsibly and effectively during crises and disasters.
During the sessions, Meftah discussed the concept and types of disasters and their psychological and social impact on both individuals and communities. He stressed the importance of psychological support in easing the effects of crises and building resilience and recovery.
Meftah also highlighted the role of scout leaders and guides in providing initial psychological assistance and fostering calm and cooperation. He spoke about the value of peer support and encouraging cooperation and empathy. The sessions also emphasized the importance of creating a positive environment to help participants manage psychological pressures and challenges, while promoting life skills and mental health.
