Deputy Head of the Libyan Presidential Council (PC), Mousa Al-Koni, discussed with the UN envoy to Libya, Abdoulaye Bathily, political developments in Libya and Niger.
During the meeting, Al-Koni and Bathily reviewed the situation in Niger and Sudan, and their repercussions on Libya and neighboring countries.
Al-Koni welcomed the election of a new Presidency of the High Council of State, considering the step as adherence to the principle of peaceful transfer of power.
Al-Koni expressed his hope that the issue of electoral laws would soon be resolved so that parliamentary and presidential elections would be held as soon as possible.
Bathily reviewed, before the deputy, the results of his recent meetings, in communicating with all parties, and working with neighboring countries to restore stability in Niger and Sudan.
Al-Koni expressed the Presidential Council’s concern about the unconstitutional change that took place in Niger, stressing the need for concerted efforts by neighboring countries with the countries of the ECOWAS group, in order to calm the situation and ensure the stability and peace of Niger and the countries of the region.
