Sirte – Electricity has gradually returned to Sirte and surrounding areas after a complete outage that lasted more than 17 hours. The blackout was caused by technical malfunctions and a shutdown of the Gulf Steam Power Station, along with the failure of several transmission lines.
The Libyan News Agency’s correspondent in Sirte reported that the outage, which began at dawn, created confusion at fuel stations. These stations saw long lines as residents waited for fuel, which has already been in short supply for several days.
The correspondent added that the power cut halted operations at several bakeries and affected other businesses and services in the city and neighboring areas.
He noted that electricity is being restored slowly as repairs are completed and parts of the power grid are brought back online.
