Tripoli – The Libyan Public Prosecutor’s Office has ordered the pretrial detention of a former Chairman of the Board of Directors of Libya Telecom and Technology (LTT) pending investigation into alleged financial irregularities.
Investigations conducted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office examined the disbursement of 20 million Libyan Dinars in violation of approved regulations. The inquiry established that the former official intended to conclude a contract for the purchase of a property valued at 80 million dinars without conducting a proper market valuation.
Furthermore, the investigation revealed that the accused authorized the payment of 25% of the contract’s value, contrary to the company’s budget management rules. Consequently, the Public Prosecution has ordered the accused to be remanded in custody while the investigation continues.
