Ghat – Continuous flooding has hit Ghat for a fourth consecutive day, causing severe damage to the city’s infrastructure, according to Fahd Al-Haddad, head of the local branch of the Red Crescent. He told Libya Al-Ahrar channel that many residents have been displaced. Some have sought shelter with relatives, others with neighbors, while several families are living in difficult conditions.
Al-Haddad warned people to stay away from flood channels. He said forecasts from the Red Crescent’s weather monitoring unit in Ghat indicate more floods are expected today, Tuesday, or over the next two days.
He emphasized that the Red Crescent’s main role is to issue alerts and warnings based on weather data. Al-Haddad urged residents to take maximum caution, avoid riverbeds and public power lines, and keep children away from flood zones to ensure their safety.
