Members of the Customs Center at the Misrata Free Zone Port managed to seize ten containers arriving from Turkey, which were found to be loaded with table salt, although the importing company’s documents indicated they contained coffee beans.
The center’s administration clarified that the shipment was imported under a letter of credit valued at $2,973,000, adding that the seizure and inventory processes have been completed, a preliminary investigation report prepared, and the case referred to the competent public prosecutor’s office.
The Customs Authority affirmed that this operation is part of the ongoing efforts to combat commercial fraud, smuggling, and customs evasion, which contributes to protecting the national economy and preserving national security.
