Tripoli – A joint bilateral consular discussion session was held yesterday. It involved Libya and Romania. Mahmoud Ali Al-Zarqani, Director of Consular Affairs, chaired the session. This meeting prepares for the resumption of Romania’s embassy operations in Tripoli.
Ashraf Al-Taib, Director of International Cooperation, attended. Zuhair Al-Azzabi, Director of International Law and Treaties, was present. Khaled Abu Khurais, Director of the Institute of Diplomatic Studies, also attended. Kamel Al-Azzabi represented the Director of the National Center for Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management. Several ministry officials tasked with coordinating the visit were also there.
Andrei Mosteanu, Deputy Director of Consular Affairs, represented the Romanian side. He was accompanied by a delegation. Andrei Firendino, Head of the Special Operations and Emergency Center at the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was part of the delegation. Nicolae Marin, Romania’s Ambassador to Libya, currently residing in Tunisia, also attended. Horba Petrescu, Consul at the Romanian Embassy, was also present.
The visit came at Romania’s request. Romania requested a joint bilateral consular discussion. Both sides reviewed several topics of mutual interest. During the session, several common issues between the two countries were discussed. They reviewed the work program for crisis and disaster management.
Arrangements were made to host the Romanian delegation. The delegation will visit the National Center for Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management. This visit is to review key programs. They will explore ways to benefit from Romanian expertise in crisis management. It also includes support in emergency and disaster situations.
