State Council member, Naima Al-Hami, confirmed that the Council voted to adopt the proposal of the committee evaluating the UN roadmap with 47 votes out of 60.
In a statement to Al-Masar TV on Monday, Al-Hami explained that the Council agreed on the necessity of completely renewing the board of the Elections Commission, following the consensus between the sovereign positions committees of the House of Representatives and the State Council, the results of which were approved by the heads of both councils.
She pointed out that the renewal process will be limited to the names previously nominated for the positions of chairman and membership of the Elections Commission’s board, and new nominations will not be opened.
The Council also stressed the importance of reaching a consensus with Parliament on the positions of the Head of the Administrative Control Authority and the Head of the Anti-Corruption Authority in the coming period, confirming that the renewal of the Commission’s board will be completed before the next briefing by the UN envoy to the Security Council.
