State Council Committee Discusses Mechanism for Drafting Election Laws

Tripoli – The Libyan State Council’s Referendum and Election Laws Preparation Committee held a meeting today at the council’s headquarters in Tripoli. The meeting was chaired by council member Omar Abulifa.

According to a statement released by the council’s media office, the committee discussed “the mechanism by which the laws regulating the upcoming elections will be drafted.” The meeting was held in preparation for a future meeting with the counterpart committee of the House of Representatives.

Last Wednesday, the State Council invited representatives of the House of Representatives in the “6+6” committee to meet in Tripoli this week. However, this meeting did not take place.
