In the framework of enhancing and developing bilateral relations between Libya and the United Kingdom, the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Saddam Haftar, met with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Libya, Mr. Martin Reynolds, and his accompanying delegation at the General Command headquarters in Benghazi.
At the beginning of the meeting, General Saddam Haftar welcomed Ambassador Reynolds and the accompanying delegation, noting the strength and depth of the historical relations between the two countries based on mutual respect and the promotion of common interests for the two friendly peoples, while also emphasizing the importance of elevating cooperation in the economic, trade, security, and scientific fields.
The meeting witnessed a review of the latest political developments on the local and regional levels, and both sides discussed challenges related to combating illegal migration and human trafficking networks, highlighting the necessity of strengthening joint efforts to confront this phenomenon and its repercussions.
For his part, the British Ambassador praised the role of the General Command in maintaining security and stability in Libya, affirming his country’s support for efforts aimed at unifying institutions and achieving lasting stability.
