Benghazi – Speaker of the House of Representatives Aguila Saleh received a congratulatory message from the Supreme Council of Libyan Unions and Syndicates. The council, which is a member of the International Federation of Trade Unions of Asia and Africa, sent the message to mark the successful conclusion of the second Asian-African Parliamentary Council conference and Saleh’s election as council president. Libya was also selected as the new headquarters for the council’s secretariat.
In its message, the council extended its sincere congratulations to Saleh and praised the achievements of the conference, which brought together parliaments from Asia, the Arab world, and Africa. The Supreme Council highlighted the significance of hosting the event in Benghazi, describing the conference’s success as a national achievement that demonstrates Libya’s recovery and its ability to play a key role in international forums.
The council noted that this milestone comes at a time when Libya has lost many official positions in various international organizations. It also rejected statements that downplayed the importance of the event or criticized national figures and participating guests, especially First Deputy of the Asian-African Parliamentary Council and President of the International Federation of Trade Unions of Asia and Africa, Saud Rashid Al-Hajilan. The council emphasized Al-Hajilan’s well-known efforts to support international cooperation among member states.
The council concluded its message by again congratulating the successes of the second Asian-African Parliamentary Council conference in Benghazi, including Aguila Saleh’s election as president and Libya’s selection as the council headquarters. The council pledged full support to both the parliamentary council and the international federation and their leaders.
