Three major oil companies negotiate with Libyan NOC for oil and gas exploration in NC7 block

Italian Eni, French Total, and UAE-based Adnoc are in talks with the Libyan National Oil Corporation to develop and explore oil and gas fields in the NC7 block in the Ghadames Basin, according to Africa Intelligence. Meanwhile, Tatneft’s Libyan branch has discovered an oil well in the Ghadames Basin, producing 1,870 barrels of oil per day at a depth of 8,500 feet.

The NOC has been working to revitalize its oil and gas sector, launching a strategic plan in February in collaboration with US company KBR. As part of the plan, new blocks for oil and gas exploration will be offered for the first time in over 17 years.
