Chairman of Libya’s Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, discussed on Sunday with the United Nations Envoy, Abdoulaye Bathily, the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission (UNSMIL) to conduct of the parliamentary and presidential elections, as per a statement from the council.
According to the council, Bathily informed Menfi of the mission’s attempts to communicate with all Libyan parties “in order to facilitate an agreement to hold elections based on the results of the Committee for Electoral Laws 6 +6, as well as the results of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee meeting which was hosted by the city of Benghazi last week.”
