Benghazi – The Libyan government’s Illegal Migration Agency announced today, Friday, the arrest of “40” Bangladeshi migrants who were staying in a secret warehouse in the Sidi Khalifa suburb of Benghazi.
The agency’s Security Media Office explained that the security operation was carried out by members of the agency’s Investigation and Arrest Office with direct support from the Security Operations Management force.
The office noted that the security operation included the arrest of the main coordinator responsible for gathering the migrants and facilitating their smuggling.
The operation came after the Investigation Office received security information about a secret warehouse being used to gather migrants of Bangladeshi nationality and facilitate their smuggling across the Libyan coast to European shores.
The Directorate for Combating Illegal Migration affirmed its continued efforts to confront the phenomenon of illegal migration and to raid the hideouts of gangs that practice the crime of human trafficking.
