497 migrants were intercepted at sea and returned to Libya in April, says IOM

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Monday that 497 migrants were rescued or intercepted at sea and returned to Libya during the period from 3 to 9 April.

IOM confirmed that 217 migrants, including 15 women and 3 children, were returned on April 8 to the port of al-Zawiya, in addition to 120 others who were disembarked in the Maya region in a separate operation.

IOM indicated that 84 migrants were returned on April 9 to al-Zawiya, while about 72 migrants, including 12 women and 13 children, were returned to Tripoli.
