71 migrants intercepted off Libyan coast

The Libyan Coast Guard, based in Tripoli, intercepted 71 migrants off the country’s western coast on Saturday.

The migrants were on the way to Europe on a rubber boat when the coast guard patrol picked them up, the coast guard said.

They were then handed over to the Department for Combating Illegal Immigration (DCIM), which is likely to send them to detention facilities.
