Africa draw places Al-Swehli and Al-Ahli Tripoli against tough tests

Cairo – The outlines of Libyan football clubs’ participation in African competitions for the 2026/2027 season have officially taken shape following the draw for the preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, held in Cairo.

In the CAF Champions League, Al-Sweahly will face Zanzibar’s KVZ in the first preliminary round. Should Al-Sweahly advance, they will meet Tunisia’s Esperance in the second round.

In the CAF Confederation Cup, Al-Ahly Tripoli begins its campaign against Zanzibar’s KMKM in the first preliminary round. If successful, Al-Ahly Tripoli will face the winner of the match between Sudan’s Hilal Al-Sahil and Ethiopia’s Belallo in the second round.

The Confederation of African Football has scheduled the first leg matches of the first preliminary round from September 4 to 6, with the return legs from September 11 to 13. The second preliminary round will be played from October 16 to 18 for the first legs, and October 23 to 25 for the return matches.
