Atlanta – Argentina secured a place in the 2026 World Cup final after a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over England at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
The first half ended scoreless. England took the lead in the 55th minute when Anthony Gordon found the net. Argentina equalized in the 85th minute with a goal from Enzo Fernández. Substitute Lautaro Martínez scored the winning goal in stoppage time, in the 92nd minute, sending Argentina through to the final.
Argentina will face Spain in the championship match. Spain advanced to the final by defeating France in the semifinal two days earlier. The World Cup final is scheduled for next Sunday.
