Tripoli – The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, sent an official letter today, Thursday. The letter was addressed to the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya. It called for the immediate halt of spending on Chapter Three.
This chapter concerns project financing for the fiscal year 2026. The suspension applies to all entities without exception. It will remain in effect until full compliance with the unified development program.
Dbeibeh’s letter reiterated a warning. He cautioned against the repercussions of parallel spending. This spending has exceeded 70 billion dinars. It has led to an increase in public debt. Inflation rates have risen. The value of the Libyan dinar has declined.
He affirmed that development is a right for all Libyans. This applies to the East, West, and South of the country. Various competent authorities must participate. Adherence to financial ceilings and controls is required. This will preserve economic stability. It will also prevent the worsening of financial imbalances.
