Assessment of International Support for Libya – Political analyst specializing in Libyan affairs, Mohamed Saleh Al-Obaidi, believes that support from Europe and the African Union for the UN roadmap is not enough to ensure the success of the process that Special Representative Hannah Tetteh is preparing to launch. In a special statement to “Erem News,” he pointed to “significant ambiguity” in the positions of the political and military parties within the country, as well as in the American stance.
Lack of Political Will
Al-Obaidi explained that the real dilemma lies in the lack of political will among the Libyan parties to reach a settlement, with many of them seeking to remain on the scene rather than pushing for a comprehensive solution.
Tetteh’s Tours and Obstacles
He noted that although Tetteh has intensified her foreign tours, the failure to begin implementing the roadmap so far confirms the scale of the obstacles that this path now faces.
