Mohamed Saleh Al-Obeidi, a political analyst specializing in Libyan affairs, said that Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar’s statements and his bet on a popular movement to end the state of political impasse reflect apprehension about the continuation of the current situation, which is witnessing an unprecedented stalemate in the Libyan scene.
Al-Obeidi explained, in a statement to “Erem News,” that the major dilemma is that time is running out for Libyans while corruption spreads and political and economic solutions are absent, noting that this reality threatens state institutions and undermines their unity and stability.
Al-Obeidi confirmed that Field Marshal Haftar’s calls came from this perspective, as he seeks through them to mobilize the Libyan street to pressure other local and international actors to push towards a political solution to the crisis that has persisted for years.
