Sirte – On the occasion of the anticipated opening of the Gulf of Sirte International Airport tomorrow, Saturday, Mr. Faraj Aljarih, Director of the International Cooperation Department at the National Development Agency, affirmed that this event represents a pivotal step and a strategic national achievement, reflecting the Agency’s commitment to advancing development across all of Libya. The reopening of the airport comes under the directives and follow-up of Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army.
Aljarih stated: “We at the National Development Agency, as the entity supervising the implementation of this vital project, view the reopening of the Gulf of Sirte Airport as a national priority. This airport is not merely infrastructure; it is an economic and developmental artery that will restore the city of Sirte’s role as a crucial geographical and economic link.”
Aljarih added: “The airport’s impact is not limited to facilitating the movement of citizens and goods, but extends to being a gateway for attracting investments, supporting service and commercial sectors, and providing direct and indirect employment opportunities for the region’s residents.”
Regarding the event’s international significance, Mr. Faraj Aljarih explained: “From an international cooperation perspective, this airport represents Libya’s new window to the world. Operating the airport in accordance with the latest international civil aviation safety standards will enhance Libya’s position on the regional and international air transport map. We look forward to building fruitful partnerships with international airlines to connect Sirte, and through it, Libya, to a wide network of international destinations.”
Mr. Aljarih concluded his statement, saying: “This achievement is the result of concerted national efforts and proof of the Libyans’ ability to build and develop when the will exists. The National Development Agency renews its commitment to moving forward in overseeing the implementation of all strategic projects aimed at the country’s reconstruction and achieving sustainable development for all citizens.”
