Cairo – The Arab Parliament has welcomed the appointment of Aguila Saleh, Speaker of the House of Representatives, as president of the Afro-Asian Parliamentary Assembly. The announcement was made in a statement issued after the third plenary session of the parliament’s fourth legislative term, held yesterday at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.
The Arab Parliament emphasized that Saleh’s selection reflects recognition of his extensive parliamentary experience and his significant contributions at the national, Arab, and international levels. Saleh was elected president of the Afro-Asian Parliamentary Assembly during the assembly’s second general conference, which took place in Benghazi in mid-June with the participation of several member parliaments.
According to the statement, this appointment strengthens the role of parliamentary institutions in fostering cooperation between Asia and Africa. It also highlights Libya’s role in international parliamentary forums.
