Sebha – The Mothers of Autistic Children Foundation in the Southern Region is preparing to organize additional lectures and awareness events in the coming days, as part of its ongoing plan to support families and empower mothers to deal with the various developmental stages of their children on the autism spectrum.
In an exclusive statement to the Libyan News Agency, the head of the Mothers of Autistic Children Foundation in the Southern Region, Fatima Mounir, expressed her happiness about organizing this lecture, stressing its importance in raising mothers’ awareness and providing them with psychological and cognitive support during a pivotal stage in their children’s lives. She added: “Through these initiatives, we seek to empower mothers with the tools to help them better understand and support their children, and we will continue to provide everything that achieves this goal.”
The lecture will be presented by Azza Fawzi, a special education consultant from the Arab Republic of Egypt. During the lecture, she will review the psychological, behavioral, and social challenges faced by adolescents on the autism spectrum, highlighting the developmental changes during this sensitive stage and how families, especially mothers as the primary partners in a child’s life, can handle them. The lecture will also include a set of educational and behavioral strategies that can mitigate the severity of disorders that may appear during adolescence. She emphasized the importance of early preparation, building bridges of dialogue and trust with children, as well as the necessity of involving them in community activities appropriate to their abilities.
