Prime Minister Fathi Bashagha has accused his predecessor Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh of using his government to benefit members of his family, which Bashagha compared to a monarchy.
In a recorded speech on Monday, Bashagha also criticized Dbeibeh’s government for spending state funds without strategic planning.
The new premier hinted that he was aware of allegations that Dbeibeh bribed members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) to get elected in 2021. Bashagha said that could have contested Dbeibeh’s win over these allegation, but “we chose stability,” he said.
