Bathily discuss Libya crisis with Japan ambassador
UN envoy to Libya Abdoulaye Bathily met on Tuesday with the newly-appointed Japanese Ambassador to Tripoli, Izuru Shimmura.
Bathily said he “commended Japan’s unwavering support in Security Council and through its chairmanship of the Sanctions Committee on Libya, in addition to its relief aid to people in East Libya via UN agencies”.
“I underscored the importance of concerted regional and international efforts in fostering lasting peace and stability in Libya,” he stated on X.
The two parties agreed that the solution to the ongoing crisis should come from the Libyans themselves through a UN facilitated process, according to UN envoy.
