UNICEF Libya and the Embassy of Japan have announced their renewed commitment to supporting the flood-affected communities of eastern Libya during a courtesy call by UNICEF Libya Representative, Michele Servadei, to Japanese Ambassador to Libya, Shimmura Izuru, held Sunday in Tripoli, according to UNICEF.

UN envoy to Libya Abdoulaye Bathily met on Tuesday with the newly-appointed Japanese Ambassador to Tripoli, Izuru Shimmura.
Deputy Chairman of Libya’s Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi concluded his visit to Tokyo, with the Minister of Oil and Gas in the Government of National Unity Mohamed Aoun, which focused on strengthening cooperation between the two countries and encouraging the return of Japanese economic activities and companies to Libya, according to a statement by the council.
Foreign Ministry of the Government of National Unity announced on Tuesday the opening of the Japanese embassy in Tripoli, which had been closed since 2014.
The Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR), Aguila Saleh, has received the Japanese Ambassador to Libya, Masaki Amadera, and his accompanying delegation, in al-Qubba, according to HoR media office.
The Japanese embassy is to resume its work from Tripoli soon. The revelation came during yesterday’s meeting between Libya’s Foreign Minister, Najla Mangoush, and the Japanese Chargé d’Affaires, Masaki Amadera in Tripoli.
