The advisor of the Libyan Organization for National Security Studies, Ramzi Al-Rumaih, confirmed that the agreement of Aguila Saleh and Khaled Al-Mashri on the constitutional basis came after international pressure and fear on both sides of losing their positions.
Al-Rumaih said, in press statements: “There are threats made by the Security Council and the embassies of major countries during the past days in the event that the dispute between Saleh and Al-Mashri continues, and in the event that their meeting, which is expected in the middle of next month, fails, there will be alternative options to complete the electoral process.”
“Among the options presented is the Presidential Council’s use of an article in the Constitutional Declaration that allows it to dissolve HoR and State Council and form a legal committee to issue a constitutional rule,” he added.
