Turkish Embassy in Libya said it was following up with the recent developments in Libya with concern, considering that “maintaining calm and not giving the opportunity to cause clashes is one of our main priorities.”
In a statement on Tuesday, the embassy called for giving priority to legal steps that will lead Libya to fair and free elections across the country.
The Turkish embassy called on all parties to exercise restraint, rationality, and refrain from actions that might endanger stability, noting that resolving problems through dialogue is essential at this sensitive stage.
The embassy said: “It is important for all parties in Libya to complete the work aimed at laying the required solid legal ground as soon as possible, stressing its support for the UN-facilitated efforts of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) and the High Council of State (HCS).
It is noteworthy that Tripoli, witnessed armed clashes between forces loyal to the new Prime Minister Fathi Bashagha, and others loyal to the outgoing Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Dbeibeh, resulting in damage to public and private property.
