Benghazi – The Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation, Abdullah Arhouma, discussed international cooperation and the regulation of the Libyan labor market with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, Yousef Al-Aqouri, today, Wednesday, in the city of Benghazi.
The two sides discussed the ongoing arrangements for signing a memorandum of understanding with the Republic of Egypt, as part of strengthening regional partnerships and exchanging expertise in the field of training and rehabilitation. The Minister extended a formal invitation to Representative Al-Aqouri to attend the signing ceremony, in his capacity as chairman of the competent committee.
The meeting also addressed the regulation of the status of expatriate workers in the country, particularly concerning work permits and contracts, inspection mechanisms, and coordination with regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with legal controls.
For his part, Al-Aqouri affirmed the Foreign Affairs Committee’s support for the Ministry of Labor’s efforts, noting the importance of implementing Law No. 24 of 2023 on combating the settlement of foreigners, due to its pivotal role in enhancing economic and social security within Libya.
The meeting is part of the ministry’s plan to develop institutional performance and expand international cooperation in a way that serves Libya’s Vision 2030 for human resources development and labor market regulation.
