“Promoting dialogue between all actors in Libya is a necessary for building an effective political roadmap that preserves stability and unity and leads to elections in the near period,” said Luis Miguel Bueno, the European Union’s spokesperson for the Middle East and North Africa.
Bueno stressed that Europe is “ready to provide the necessary support at this critical juncture.”
“We believe that it is very important to hold free, fair, inclusive and credible elections,” he said, noting that the European Union is mobilizing the necessary resources to support Libya’s High National Election Commission (HNEC).
The EU diplomat emphasized upon the need to see concrete implementation of the action plan approved by the country’s 5+5 Joint Military Commission on the withdrawal of mercenaries and foreign forces.
