Egyptian researcher Alaa Farouk made a statement. He specializes in international relations and Maghreb affairs. Farouk confirmed the UN mission faces challenges. It suffers from administrative and political confusion. This impacts its handling of developments in Libya.
Farouk clarified his views. He spoke in special statements to the “Abaad” platform. The mission operates by appeasing influential local parties. This approach leads to a lack of strong decisions. It also results in a lack of courageous choices. The mission loses unified Security Council support. Consequently, it fails to impose sanctions. These sanctions should target parties or individuals obstructing the roadmap.
He also highlighted a proposal. It suggested a mini-council. This council would resolve the Election Commission’s board issue. Farouk described this as continued weakness and confusion. He believes the mission has become a “ball.” Political and military parties are tossing it around. They disregard its actions.
