Within the framework of coordination and cooperation between the General Command of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces and the Italian government, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa haftar, received a high-level delegation from the Italian Republic at his office in the General Command headquarters in Benghazi. The delegation was led by the Italian Minister of Interior, Mr. Matteo Piantedosi, and the Director of the Italian Intelligence Service, Mr. Giovanni Caravelli.
During the meeting, the Italian Minister of Interior conveyed the greetings and appreciation of the Italian Prime Minister, Ms. Giorgia Meloni, to the Commander-in-Chief, reaffirming her recognition of his prominent role and status in maintaining security and stability in Libya. For his part, the Commander-in-Chief noted the depth of the bilateral relations between the two countries, built on mutual respect, and emphasized his commitment to developing cooperation in a way that serves regional stability and strengthens the partnership between Libya and Italy.
The meeting also featured an exchange of views on the latest local and international developments. Both parties discussed ways to enhance joint coordination and cooperation, particularly in the fields of counter-terrorism, curbing illegal migration, and dismantling human smuggling and drug trafficking networks, all of which contribute to bolstering regional security and stability.
