France calls on Turkey to exert influence in support of Libya vote

France believes that it is “in everyone’s interest that Libyans respect their commitment to hold elections by the end of the year,” an Elysée source told Italian newspaper La Repubblica, adding that the European country made a demand to Turkey to “exert all its influence to reach the goal of the vote”.

The source, which La Repubblica described as an “advisor” to President Emmanuel Macron, revealed that the Russians are ready to withdraw their fighters from Libya. However, he indicated that the Turks are yet to make a smilier commitment.

“The Russians told us they were ready to withdraw Wagner’s militiamen,” confides the Macron advisor. “We hope that the Turks will be able to make the same commitment but there is still a lot of work to do.”
